In order to deepen the integration of production and education, to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge acquired at the university and the practical skills of the industry, on June 26, from 09:30 to 11:30, teachers and students of the Economics and Trade English major of Dalian University visited Dalian Rongcheng Machinery Co., Ltd. and took part in an immersive in-person orientation event.
The visit program was intense, communication was very lively. Students toured production sites, listened to explanations and asked questions, gaining a lot of useful experience! Let's remember the key moments of this meeting together!
Introducing the Rongcheng Corporate Culture Wall
Upon arrival at the company, participants first went to the second floor of the office to examine the corporate culture wall. The host guide spoke in detail about the long-term development path of the enterprise, comprehensively presented the areas of foreign cooperation, the general structure of foreign trade activities, as well as various export certificates and industry awards.
The stands clearly illustrate the company's path to foreign markets. Thanks to this, students received a clear idea of the potential of a real manufacturing enterprise actively working in foreign trade, and also formed a first idea of the areas of application of knowledge in the specialty “Economics and Commercial English”.
Inspection of office premises
Having completed their tour of the corporate culture wall, the group moved into the general office area and the dedicated foreign trade department office. Employees examined in detail the functions of each department, the mechanisms of interaction between positions and complete work processes, clearly demonstrating the daily work of foreign trade specialists.
Observing employees at their workplaces, students realized from their own experience that business English and cross-border communication skills studied at the university are key competencies in demand for professional activities.

All teachers and students went to the conference room to jointly watch the full official presentation video program of the Rongcheng company. The video clearly demonstrates the production capacity of the enterprise, examples of cooperation with foreign clients and the full cycle of foreign trade operations. In just a few minutes, the guests formed a holistic understanding of the overall work of the company.
Exchange of experience from professional practice
The most awaited moment of the visit has arrived! Watson, an employee of the second department of international projects, acted as a speaker and shared his sincere experiences from his professional work. Drawing on his personal journey from a young university graduate to an experienced mentor, he explained how the knowledge gained at the university relates to practical skills in the workplace, analyzed in detail the current situation in the foreign trade industry and the prospects for the development of various positions.
During the free question-and-answer session, the atmosphere was very lively. Students actively raised their hands and asked questions about internships, career choices, career development and other topics. The speaker patiently and in detail answered each question, helping the guys dispel uncertainty in matters of employment.
Visit to our own production plant
After a short break, all teachers and students gathered at the entrance to the plant. Strictly observing the safety regulations of the enterprise, the group, under the guidance of accompanying persons, carried out a routine inspection.
The guests sequentially inspected the workshop for finished export products, the quality control area and the specialized warehouse for foreign trade goods. The guide simultaneously explained the full cycle of work: production of products for foreign orders, quality control of finished products, preparation of goods for customs declaration and shipment abroad, clearly explaining the close interaction between production shops and the foreign trade department.
On site, we were repeatedly reminded: do not leave the group on your own, do not touch production equipment, photography in areas with confidential information is prohibited, and visiting the plant must be done in a civilized and safe manner.
At the end of the inspection, all teachers and students gathered at the entrance to the plant for a joint photo as a souvenir. This officially concluded the study visit.
This standardized, comprehensive practical excursion became a vivid example of the joint work of a university and an enterprise in training qualified personnel. On the one hand, it allowed students to go beyond textbooks, get to know the field of foreign trade in detail from the inside and clearly define their educational goals and professional prospects.
